Has anyone really gotten into the Winter Olympics? I've watched bits of it but nothing has really grabbed me.

Probably because your country not win anything?

Iīm from Norway, we have chances in almost every sport in Winter Olympics, and all norwegians watch TV night and day for looking. But when it comes to Summer Olympics, we havenīt chances in more than maybe 4-5 competitions, and not so many of us are interested.

I think you have to find something fascinating with a sport, and just love it for the achievements. Like skijump when Bjorn Einar Romoeren jumped 239 meter in Planica: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4c4DhVVAwU&feature=related

I like watching the winter games. I'm particularly fond of watching skiiers wipe out, and watching speed skaters. I'm researching the possibility of getting tickets to Vancouver 2010 since its just up the road a bit.

Since Lasse Kjus and Kjetil Andre Aamodt retired and specially Aksel Lund Svindal injury last season, I havenīt got the patience to look at downhill at all. You should claim a ticket if you got one. I was in the woods in Lillehammer 1994, that was priceless. Go for it.

But if youīre into extremsports, why donīt you like skijump, Youīve looked at the clip, right? Smile

I'm wonderiing whether I should pester a Canadian friend into putting her name into the ticket lottery for the Canada allocation so that I might benefit. I'd probably stick to events in the Vancouver area as opposed to Whistler which is another couple of hours north.

I haven't watched ski jumping except on TV. When watching it there, the depth of the landing area really isn't very apparent. Last Summer, I went to Calgary, where I visited the Olympic Park where skijumping was held in 1988. That ski jump is no longer used for ski jumping because people are jumping much further than they were twenty years ago. They could extend it, but there's a parking lot on the other side of the knoll.

I did however, take the zipline down from the top of the jump. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!

Only the snowboarding and the speed skating have captivated me.

Anyone watch the figure skating?

I like any kind of sports. And since my son is skiing, we watch constantly the winter games and we have the emotions together. It's great spending time with family even in this field!
