Does exercising help you to recover from depression? Can it also help you to recover from clinical depression?

I don't know about clinically depressed but exercise is well known for it's cheering up qualities due to the increased oxygen flow around the body (or something like that)

i know this was posted a while ago but i wanted to have an input. i've suffered from depression for quite a while and one thing i find really helps is getting regular exercise. i try running and cycling at least twice a week and really notice my mood deteriate when i don't do it. i haven't done any exercise for over 2 weeks now and been feeling not as good both mentally and pysically. definitely going for a run tomorro!

Its true that exercising helps to recover from depression. But can a depressed person motivate himself to do exercise everyday..?

Yes exercise can help you to recover from depression but not sure about clinical depression. Another alternative is there. Music can also play a huge role for helping people to recover from depression.

Exercising help a lot to recover from depression. Exercise is a great stress-buster, too, not only because it relieves muscle tension but also because it gets your heart rate up. The combination makes you more relaxed and alert and, therefore, better able to deal with your problems. There are social benefits to exercising that can help improve your mood as well. Joining a club or meeting friends to walk or work out with can help lift the sense of isolation you can develop when you're depressed.

Don't want to give any medical advice but I do think that the endorphins released during exercise help to fight depression. Also getting into better shape often helps people who are depressed.

It is scientifically proven that a regular exercise can help you to combat from stress. It increases the blood flow to the brain and other parts of the body. Meditation and yoga are the two best methods to get rid off the stress.
