|There were some great games played on the weekend right around the country. Most matches were decided by 20 points or less.
AFL crowds attendances generally run 3rd behind the Einglish Premier League and US NFL. (Much bigger populations and more clubs playing)
Last weekend just gone brought 346,177 fans through the turnstiles for the eight games. This is the second-best attendance for a round of games in league history and also provided the AFL with its best-ever total after
three rounds of football. So far 2005 crowd figures are at 891,771, ahead of the previous record round three 1999 total of 884,218
The MCG is being redeveloped for the March 2006 Commonwealth Games and is well below capacity of 100,000. This has affected the crowd figures for the blockbusters and the total figures.
If anybody reading this watches the replays -check out Dockers Luke Mcpharlins mark over the pack at the Perth Derby on Saturday.
His knees were above the shoulders of the Eagles defenders. He got a "beautiful ride" up into the statosphere as we say. Definitely a contender for the mark of the year.
Springing up and climbing up your opponents back with your feet only to grab a mark is quite legal. Some players have huge springs and leaps.
