I must say I can't really be bothered tuning into any of the action. Are the Games still relevant in a modern age?

No, I can't be bothered with it all really, either.

Makes you wonder how much longer it'll carry on for. The public attendance figures don't seem to have been very good at all. No idea about the tv viewing figures.

They're already worried about Glasgow...

The Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 could be left millions of pounds in the red by over-optimistic estimates of ticket sales and a lack of interest from broadcasters, according to an official inquiry.

Must be a worry. So much of sport now is bankrolled by tv broadcasters that if they start to pull out the whole house of cards comes down.

Yeah these games have been a bit of a farce unfortunately. Lots of close, exciting races but the bottom line is that times are a big part of athletics and there have been so few races which could claim to be world class standard,

The men's 100m medallists were about half a second slower than many of the contenders in Daegu next year.

With the Commonwealth an increasingly outdated relic of a bygone era it is difficult to see how the organisers can continue to big it up as a 'major championship'

Well, maybe it's due to the fact that most of the participant countries in the Games are starting to find their own identities. Thus, they are slowly moving away from the original idea of the games.
