Well... congratulations to Simon and the first week of his fantasy football league. Seems to have worked well.

I have instantly found mid-table mediocrity.

A number of players (Simon included) seem to have scored very nicely, thank you... has this been achieved largely through 'front-loading' their teams with strikers, or by picking goal-scoring defenders (which score highly, I notice)...?

Anyway, all in all, it seems a very successful first week. Well done, Simon!

Aaron

Well although there were a couple of minor glitches, overall the first week seemed to go fairly well.

I've weighted the amount of points players get for scoring, so defenders get 10 points whereas strikers only get 5 (midfielders get 7).

This is to encourage people not to load their team up with 6 strikers and hope for the best.

I've just completed a re-vamp of the 'players' link on the website, so it's now much more useful.

In the months ahead I aim to write a page allowing people to make substitutions to their squad, in addition to the 'squad rotation' they can already do.

I'm getting almost zero feedback from people though, which is what led me to stop running this competition 18 months ago!

Cheers,

Simon

For those that don't know what we're discussing here, see:

Competition seems to be going well, Simon... well done!

When will the competition run until... will it be to the end of the 2002/03 season...?

Paul

Yes, until the end of the current footie season. Between the end of this season and the beginning of next season I aim to really push the website to as many people as possible. I also aim to buy a domain name and to get a prize of some sort for the winner.

It's all a long way off, but you've got to have a plan!

Cheers,

Simon

Unfortunately it's too late for this season. If you go to the website (http://www.simondavis.me.uk) and click on "Register" you'll be able to send me your details. I will then contact you when I'm taking entries for next season.

Thinking about it, there's actually no reason why you can't sign up now (other than I've disabled new sign ups at present, but that's easy to change). All it'd mean is that you'd be starting at a severe disadvantage compared to the people already signed up.

Let me know if you'd like to sign up anyway.
